History of Insight Cuba
2011 - On January 28, People-to-People Educational Travel to Cuba was restored by the Obama Administration (press statement). Insight Cuba submitted its license application the same day.
2010 - In August, Insight Cuba received word that positive changes to the travel regulations were imminent; therefore they began the process of re-launching programs in anticipation of the changes.
2010 to 2004 - Insight Cuba spent several years cultivating partnerships and friendships in Cuba when travel programs were suspended.
2004 - Insight Cuba was awarded the Hospitality, Sales and Marketing Association International (HSMAI) Adrian Award for its efforts in the travel and hospitality industry.
2003 - The regulations that govern travel to Cuba were tightened, and all People-to-People Educational Travel programs were suspended. The last groups of Americans who traveled under the license returned home at the end of December 2003.
2003 - By year's end, Insight Cuba was featured in over 121 news outlets throughout the U.S.
2002 - A partnership between JazzTimes Magazine and Insight Cuba brought hundreds of Americans to the International Jazz Festival in Havana, Cuba.
2001 - Insight Cuba launched its new Cuban Music program, which provided guests with an opportunity to immerse themselves in Cuban music, dance, and art.
2000 - Insight Cuba received it's first Specific License from the Treasury Department's Office of Foreign Assets Control, authorizing them to provide licensed travel to Cuba.
Later in 2000, we sent our first group of Americans to Cuba…legally.
1999 - President Clinton announced measures that would increase People-to-People exchange between America and Cuba. Shortly thereafter, Insight Cuba traveled to Cuba to discuss the possibility of implementing a program. They were very excited by the opportunity and the access they would be able to provide travelers.
