The 28th Havana International Jazz Festival, organized by celebrated jazz musicians including Chucho Valdes and sponsored by the Instituto Cubano de la Música, will take place in December (note: Insight Cuba’s tour dates to be announced soon). For the participant looking to join the celebration of jazz in Cuba, Insight Cuba offers a rare and special opportunity to attend the festival and Discover Cuba through its People… and its Music. With Insight Cuba, you will experience the sweet and seductive sounds of the finest jazz and interact with the people who inspire each note.

Festival History

The Festival began as a loosely organized event in 1978, when Bobby Carcasses and other jazz musicians played an outdoor show at Casa de la Cultura in Havana. The following year, other famous musicians attended including:  Dizzy Gillespie, Max Roach, Charlie Haden, and Jack DeJohnette, who eventually became a mainstay of the event.  Over the years, hundreds of the world’s most talented jazz musicians vied to jam in Havana’s most sought after Festival.  In 1996, Chucho Valdes became the Artistic Director and President of the organizing committee and the festival continues to be a reigning success.
